Silicon Valley REALTORS® Urged To Address Housing Crisis

Silicon Valley is in a good bill of health, but it’s not a panacea, with looming issues that can stop forward momentum.

That was the sentiment of Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, which recently reached out to the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors and urged our fraternity to take on the weighty topics of housing and traffic in the region.

The Silicon Valley Competitiveness And Innovation Project 2017 report is instructive.

Unsurprisingly, the star-studded panel counts the explosive growth of innovative industries as the main asset to the region, but check marks traffic and housing in the “bad” column.

At Bornstein Law, we are in unison with the report findings and noted in an earlier article that Millennials report their intention to leave the Bay Area because of high rents and congestion.

We agree in principle that housing shortage should be addressed, and applaud the many well-intentioned initiatives to tackle the problem. Some of these legislative proposals have gaps, but until we resolve this issue, Bay Area landlords have to focus on the here and now, working within the environment that exists today.

In a climate that seems to be rife for conflict between landlords and tenants, Bornstein Law can strive for a win-win solution for property owners and tenants alike, while keeping a pulse on the big picture.
